Job Opportunity: Pharmacist

Location: Lynchburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Must have hospital setting experience (retail pharmacy experience not accepted).
Responsible for managing clinical criteria and managed care requirements for inpatient and outpatient authorizations.
Advocate on behalf of patients to secure coverage for needed services.
Complete pre-certifications and re-certifications for inpatient and outpatient services.
Report denial and authorization information to designated resources.
Communicate actively with interdisciplinary teams to provide updates on authorizations.
Participate in treatment teams to ensure staff knowledge of coverage and facilitate communication with agencies.
Collaborate with Director of Nursing to meet documentation requirements.
Ensure timely and thorough completion of appeals.
Interface with managed care organizations, external reviews, and other payers.
Communicate with physicians to schedule peer-to-peer reviews.
Accurately report denials.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Valid Pharmacist license in Virginia
Minimum of 3 years of pharmacist experience
Pharmacist experience within the last year
