Description

Registered Nurse - OB/GYN (Labor & Delivery)

Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Weekly Hours: 36 hours
Shift: See shift details (not specified)
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend / as needed
Call Requirements: As needed


Unit & Patient Population

  • Unit: Labor & Delivery (4 labor rooms, 4 postpartum rooms)
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Labor/Delivery/Postpartum: 2:1 or 1:1 in LDRP
    • Postpartum: 3 couplets to 1 nurse
  • Patient Population: Childbearing-aged women and newborns
  • Electronic Health Records (EHR): OBIX, Medhost, GUI

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) and Postpartum care
  • Certifications (must have at submission):
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN)
    • Healthy Workplaces Certification (HWC)

Job Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Provide nursing care in Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units
  • Float to other units as needed
  • Maintain patient-focused care with teamwork and eagerness to learn
  • Adhere to dress code: scrubs required, no casual wear

Additional Notes

  • Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
  • Facility is a 47-bed acute care center with approximately 300 healthcare employees
  • No trauma level designation for this unit
  • Patient care involves common diagnoses and treatments related to Labor & Delivery and Postpartum care

This position is ideal for experienced Labor & Delivery RNs seeking a travel assignment in New Mexico with a focus on maternal and newborn care.
