Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel Assignment
Location: Elko, Nevada
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Employment Type: Travel
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN) in Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Unit: ICU with 7 beds
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Patient Ratios:
- Higher acuity ICU patients: 2:1
- Medical surgical overflow: 5:1
- Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Weekend Hours: As needed/rotating
- Call Requirements: If on call, must report within 30 minutes; no other call except scheduled shifts
- Float Requirements: May float to other units or be on call if ICU is on standby
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nevada
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, with ICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with:
- Arterial lines (ART lines)
- Central lines
- Ventilators and BiPAP
- Post cardiac catheterization care
- Post-surgical care
- Moderate sedation
- Chest tube management
- Electrolyte management
- Telemetry monitoring
Common Diagnoses and Treatments Encountered
- COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
- CHF (Congestive Heart Failure)
- Respiratory failure
- Overdose management
- Alcohol withdrawal
- DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis)
- STEMI and AMI (types of heart attacks)
- Stroke care
Work Environment and Tools
- Equipment used: IV pumps, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs), telemetry, bedside monitoring
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: Med Host
- Dress Code: No specific scrub color required; no unacceptable attire specified
