Pharmacist Travel Position - Florida, Jacksonville
Job Overview
- Role: Pharmacist-in-Charge (Pharmacy Department)
- Employment Type: Travel contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Location: Jacksonville, Florida
- Facility Type: 50-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation for patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation, and orthopedic injury.
- Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, 40 hours per week
- On-call required after hours and on weekends; must return to pharmacy for emergencies
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative leadership for daily pharmacy operations
- Identify and resolve policy/procedure gaps in collaboration with Pharmacy Operations
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (JC, CIHQ, CMS, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy)
- Implement new services, procedures, and pharmacy automation
- Lead departmental performance improvement programs
- Manage pharmacy staff including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluations
- Develop and maintain technician and pharmacist schedules; adjust staffing based on patient acuity and census
- Oversee purchasing and inventory management to ensure safe and cost-effective medication use
- Verify and dispense medication orders; supervise technician work
- Monitor and evaluate medication management processes to identify and mitigate risks
- Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives with clinical staff
- Provide clinical pharmacy services such as anticoagulant monitoring, therapy optimization, and evidence-based drug utilization protocols
- Educate physicians, nurses, and staff with accurate drug information
- Participate in medication reconciliation and document clinical interventions
- Maintain positive relationships with medical staff, administration, and patients
Required Qualifications
- Valid, active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in Florida
- Pharmacist-in-Charge credentials as required by the state
- Minimum of 1 year of pharmacist experience, including experience within the last year
