Pharmacist Travel Position - Florida, Jacksonville

Job Overview

  • Role: Pharmacist-in-Charge (Pharmacy Department)
  • Employment Type: Travel contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Location: Jacksonville, Florida
  • Facility Type: 50-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation for patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation, and orthopedic injury.
  • Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, 40 hours per week
  • On-call required after hours and on weekends; must return to pharmacy for emergencies

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative leadership for daily pharmacy operations
  • Identify and resolve policy/procedure gaps in collaboration with Pharmacy Operations
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (JC, CIHQ, CMS, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy)
  • Implement new services, procedures, and pharmacy automation
  • Lead departmental performance improvement programs
  • Manage pharmacy staff including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Develop and maintain technician and pharmacist schedules; adjust staffing based on patient acuity and census
  • Oversee purchasing and inventory management to ensure safe and cost-effective medication use
  • Verify and dispense medication orders; supervise technician work
  • Monitor and evaluate medication management processes to identify and mitigate risks
  • Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives with clinical staff
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services such as anticoagulant monitoring, therapy optimization, and evidence-based drug utilization protocols
  • Educate physicians, nurses, and staff with accurate drug information
  • Participate in medication reconciliation and document clinical interventions
  • Maintain positive relationships with medical staff, administration, and patients

Required Qualifications

  • Valid, active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in Florida
  • Pharmacist-in-Charge credentials as required by the state
  • Minimum of 1 year of pharmacist experience, including experience within the last year
