Registered Nurse - OB/GYN (Labor & Delivery)

Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Unit & Patient Population

  • Unit: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum (4 labor rooms, 4 postpartum rooms)
  • Patient Population: Childbearing-aged women and newborns
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum (LDRP): 2 patients to 1 nurse
    • Postpartum couplets: 3 patients to 1 nurse
  • Electronic Health Records (EHR): OBIX, Medhost, GUI

Position Details

  • Role: Registered Nurse
  • Specialty: Labor & Delivery
  • Number of Openings: 1
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
  • Weekend Hours: Every other weekend / as needed
  • Call Requirements: As needed
  • Float Requirements: As needed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
  • Minimum 1 year of OB/GYN nursing experience, including Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP)
  • OB/GYN experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Must be fingerprinted and undergo background check per New Mexico state requirements; a 14-day supervised waiver period is allowed while waiting for results (not applicable to physicians)

Work Environment & Culture

  • Facility Size: 47-bed acute care facility with approximately 300 healthcare employees
  • Personality Fit: Patient experience focused, teamwork oriented, eager to learn
  • Dress Code: Scrubs required; no casual wear allowed

Additional Notes

  • Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
  • Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
  • Client may require additional certifications beyond those listed
  • Must comply with New Mexico Department of Health fingerprinting and background check process before hire
