Registered Nurse – Labor Delivery/Postpartum

Location: Las Cruces, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Not specified
Hours per Week: 36 (weekly guaranteed)
Weekend Hours: Shared weekends
Call Requirements: None


Unit and Patient Population

  • Unit: Labor and Delivery (2nd floor)
  • Trauma Level: 3
  • Number of Beds: 16
  • Patient Population: Adults and newborns
  • Patient Ratios: Strive for AWHONN standards
  • EHR Systems: Centricity, Perinatal, Meditech
  • Float Requirements: Special Care Nursery
  • Care Model: LDRP care with baby-friendly model (newborns room-in with mothers)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
  • Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in OB/GYN and Postpartum care

Skills and Experience

  • Must have experience with:
    • Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum care
    • Circulating for C-sections
    • Postpartum bilateral tubal ligation (PPBTL)
    • D&Cs (Dilation and Curettage)
    • Management of hemorrhage
  • Common diagnoses and treatments include:
    • Pre-eclampsia, inductions, C-sections
  • Preferred personality traits: Flexible, team player, positive attitude

Additional Information

  • Dress Code: Scrubs of any color allowed; no jeans or camouflage scrubs permitted
  • Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
  • Travel candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
