Job Opportunity: Therapist - Behavioral Health

Location

  • Lynchburg, Virginia

Employment Type

  • Travel contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Position Details

  • Role: Assessment Specialist in Behavioral Health
  • Shift: Night shift (7 PM – 7 AM)
  • Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
  • Weekend hours: Every other weekend
  • Call requirements: None
  • Number of openings: 2

Unit Information

  • Department: Behavioral Health Intake
  • Patient population: All
  • Assessment rooms available: 7
  • Equipment used: Computer, vitals machine, breathalyzer, metal detection wand
  • Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems: Cerner, Meditech, LINQ

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Mental Health license in Virginia, such as:
    • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
    • Licensed Clinical Psychologist
  • Minimum of 1 year of mental health experience, including experience within the last year

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate response to service requests including initial response, assessment, referral, level of care designation, admission, and follow-up
  • Conduct initial evaluations and assessments; document patient symptomology, functioning, and needs
  • Provide information to physicians based on assessments
  • Maintain accuracy in all pre-admission and admission paperwork; complete insurance pre-certifications
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Emergency Detention and EMTALA paperwork and processes
  • Deliver excellent customer service to patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of behavioral health care
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse healthcare team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Dress Code

  • Business casual attire required
  • Unacceptable attire includes: blue jeans, open-toe shoes, tank tops, sweats, sandals, hoodies

This position offers an opportunity to work in a behavioral health intake setting with a focus on assessment and coordination of care during night shifts.
