Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU Travel Position

Location: Elko, Nevada
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 4 weeks

Job Summary

• Rapid response position requiring ability to start within 7-10 days of offer acceptance.
• ICU role with adult and geriatric patient population.
• 12-hour shifts with 36 guaranteed hours per week.
• Weekend hours as needed/rotating.
• Call requirement: If on call, must report within 30 minutes. No other call obligations beyond scheduled shifts.
• Float to other units or on call if ICU unit is on standby.

Unit Profile

• ICU with 7 beds.
• Patient ratios: 2:1 for high acuity ICU patients; 5:1 for medical-surgical overflow.
• Equipment used includes IV pumps, sequential compression devices (SCDs), telemetry, bedside monitoring.
• Electronic Health Record system: Med Host.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Nevada
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience, including ICU experience within the last year
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with arterial lines, central lines, ventilators, BiPAP.
• Post cardiac catheterization care, post-surgical care, moderate sedation, chest tube management, electrolyte management, telemetry monitoring.

Common Diagnoses and Treatments

• COPD, congestive heart failure (CHF), respiratory failure, overdose, alcohol withdrawal, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), STEMI, AMI, stroke.

Personal Attributes

• Independent, self-motivated, focused, and good time management skills.

Additional Information

• No specific scrub color required; no unacceptable attire specified.
• Must be located more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify as travel.
• Weekly Monday orientations.
