Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Location: Henderson, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit and Facility Overview

  • Unit: Labor and Delivery
  • Number of Beds: 16
  • Patient Ratios: According to AWHONN guidelines
  • Patient Population: Labor and Delivery, including couplet care and some NICU experience
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) System: GE Centricity/Paragon
  • Weekend Shifts: 5-6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
  • Call Requirements: No scheduled call; flexible down based on unit census and staff rotation
  • Float Requirements: Not required, but may float to task/secretary if needed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) certification
  • Experience with Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) care
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience

Skills and Experience

  • Must have experience with couplet care and LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
  • Some NICU experience preferred
  • Familiarity with fetal monitoring at an intermediate or higher level
