Registered Nurse (PACU) - Travel Position

Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Work in a 47-bed acute care facility, primarily serving adult patients.
• Position is based on the 3rd floor in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) with shared duties in Preoperative (Preop) care.
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2.
• Typical cases include appendectomy and gallbladder procedures.
• Work schedule: Day shift with some on-call nights and weekends.
• On-call requirement: Must be able to arrive at work within 30 minutes of notification.
• Weekly hours: Approximately 40 hours guaranteed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico.
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), including experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Additional Information

• Float requirements limited to PACU and Preop only; no expectation to float to other units.
• Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems used: CQI and Medhost.
• Dress code prohibits open-toed shoes and fake fingernails.
• Patient population primarily adult; ENT cases occur about once a month.

Work Environment

• 3-bed PACU unit.
• Collaborative team environment with approximately 300 healthcare employees in the facility.
• Trauma level: Not applicable.
