Description

Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Facility Overview

Emergency Department with 32 beds
Trauma level: Not formally designated, but receives all traumas
Patient population: Birth to death (all ages)
Patient ratios: 1:4 to 1:5
Equipment: Critical care equipment
Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: Cerner
Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
Weekend hours: Rotate every other weekend
Call requirements: Variable, depending on census
Float requirements: Assist in other areas where competent

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
Certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Experience & Skills

Experience in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment
Familiarity with stroke, STEMI, and trauma cases
Strong critical care thinking skills
Ability to provide excellent patient and family experience
Energetic and knowledgeable personality fit

Additional Information

Shift details not specified
Dress code: Scrubs of any color allowed; hoodies and inappropriate t-shirts are not acceptable
Orientation dates available: June 22 or July 20
Number of openings: 1

Note: Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel.
