Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Location: Danville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN to backfill a position in a 31-bed Emergency Room with 2 triage rooms. The unit serves all age groups and includes behavioral health and acute patients. The role involves providing care with a typical patient ratio of 1:4, with exceptions during high-volume or special circumstances.
Work Schedule
- 36 hours per week guaranteed
- Rotating weekends/as needed
- No call requirements
- Float as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications prior to start:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI) (available on-site)
Unit & Facility Information
- Emergency Department with 31 beds (7 beds for behavioral health/acute patients)
- Electronic Health Records primarily MedHost (ED) and Meditech for admit holds and behavioral health patients
- Patient population includes all ages
- Professional, positive, compassionate, and team-oriented work environment
- Scrub color: Traveler’s choice
Additional Notes
- Orientation offered bi-weekly on Tuesdays
- Random drug screening and criminal background consent required
- Located in a small city with access to parks, trails, and cultural amenities
