Registered Nurse - Pediatrics (Travel)

Location: Somerset, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility & Unit Overview

• 8-bed pediatric unit
• Patient population: newborn to 17 years old
• Patient ratios: 3:1 or 4:1 depending on acuity
• Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: Meditech
• Unit float requirements include mother/baby well baby care
• Common diagnoses/treatments: failure to thrive, hyperbilirubinemia, bronchiolitis, RSV, respiratory distress, nausea/vomiting, post-operative care (tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy)

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty: Pediatrics
• Shift: 12-hour shifts
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Weekend shifts: 2 per month (Friday night and Saturday night)
• Call requirements: Not specified
• Dress code: Royal blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 3 years of pediatric medical-surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training
• Demonstrated pediatrics experience

Desired Skills & Attributes

• Strong pediatric nursing skills and experience preferred
• Self-motivated with strong assessment abilities
• Ability to multitask effectively

Additional Notes

• Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
• Candidates must live 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
• Facility is a 295-bed acute care hospital with advanced cardiac and neurosurgery programs
• The hospital serves an 11-county area in south central Kentucky
