Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with 5+ years of ED experience. Candidates with combined ICU and ED experience will also be considered. This role supports a 31-bed Emergency Room (including 2 triage rooms and 7 beds for Behavioral Health or Acute patients) in a community hospital setting serving all age groups.

Work Schedule & Environment

• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 hours
• Weekend hours: Rotating weekends/as needed
• No call requirements
• Patient ratio typically 1:4, with exceptions during high volume or special circumstances
• Electronic Health Records primarily MedHost (ED) and Meditech (for admit holds and behavioral health patients)
• Scrub color: Traveler’s choice

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Handle with Care (CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training, available on-site)
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

Required Licenses

• Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Virginia

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Emergency Department nursing

• Float to other units as needed
• Orientation offered bi-weekly on Tuesdays
• Random drug screening and criminal background consent required prior to start

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
