Travel RN Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Telemetry Unit

Location: Martinsville, Virginia
Facility Type: Acute-care hospital, licensed for 220 beds
Unit: Medical Surgical Unit (MedSurg) – 41 beds
Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty: Medical/Surgical - Telemetry
• Number of Openings: 1
• Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend / as needed
• Call Requirements: As needed
• Float Requirements: May require travel within a 25-mile radius of the facility
• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 4 patients
• Patient Population: All ages
• EHR System: Meditech

Required Certifications & Licenses

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification
• Handle with Care certification
• Valid Registered Nurse license to practice in Virginia

Experience & Skills

• 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred
• Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Comfortable working in a stressful environment and taking appropriate action
• Flexibility to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care

Common Diagnoses / Treatments

• Post-operative orthopedic procedures
• Total joint replacements

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
• Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
• Random drug screening and criminal background consent required
• Dress code: Scrubs required; no casual wear allowed
