Travel RN Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Location: Martinsville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty: Medical/Surgical - Telemetry
• Unit: Medical Surgical Unit
• Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend / as needed
• Call Requirements: As needed
• Patient Population: All ages
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Number of Beds: 41
• Electronic Health Record (EHR): Meditech
• Float Requirements: May require travel within a 25-mile radius of the facility

Required Qualifications

• Licensure: Registered Nurse license valid in Virginia
• Certifications:

  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NIH Certification
  • Handle with Care
• Experience: 2 years in Medical/Surgical specialty (higher end of 1-2 years required)
• Skills:

  • Critical thinking
  • Decisive judgment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in stressful environments and take appropriate action
• Flexibility: Must be able to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
• Candidates must be located 60 miles or greater from the facility to qualify as travel staff
• Random drug screening and criminal background consent required
• Dress code: Scrubs required, no casual wear allowed
• Common patient diagnoses include post-op orthopedic procedures and total joint replacements
