Registered Nurse - Med Surg Telemetry

Location: Lake Havasu City, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry (Med Surg Tele)
Shift: 7 PM
Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
Weekend Shifts: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
Call Requirements: No scheduled on-call; may flex shifts to on-call up to twice during contract
Float Requirements: Expected to float to other units including Intermediate Care (IMC) and Emergency Department (ED)

Unit Information

Number of Beds: 40
Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
Types of Patients:
- Total joint replacement patients
- Surgical patients
- Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
- Patients with acute on chronic medical conditions such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
- Alcohol withdrawal
- Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS)
- Gastrointestinal Bleeding (GIB)

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
Recent acute care experience with acute care skills
Ability to manage a 6:1 patient ratio
Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Qualifications

Preceptor experience
Charge nurse experience

Work Environment & Culture

Personality Fit: Compassionate, positive, can-do attitude
Dress Code: Black scrubs (top and bottom)
Unacceptable Attire: Open shoes

Additional Notes

The unit uses equipment such as Baxter IV pumps, Posey bed/chair alarms, Omnicell drug dispensing cabinets, and Zoll defibrillators.
