Registered Nurse - Med Surg Telemetry

Location: Lake Havasu City, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry (Med Surg Tele)
  • Shift: 7 PM
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
  • Weekend Shifts: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
  • Call Requirements: No scheduled on-call; may flex shifts to on-call up to twice during contract
  • Float Requirements: Expected to float to other units including Intermediate Care (IMC) and Emergency Department (ED)

Unit Information

  • Number of Beds: 40
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
  • Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
  • Types of Patients:
    • Total joint replacement patients
    • Surgical patients
    • Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
    • Patients with acute on chronic medical conditions such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
    • Alcohol withdrawal
    • Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS)
    • Gastrointestinal Bleeding (GIB)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
  • Recent acute care experience with acute care skills
  • Ability to manage a 6:1 patient ratio
  • Certifications:
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preceptor experience
  • Charge nurse experience

  • Dress Code: Black scrubs (top and bottom)
  • Unacceptable Attire: Open shoes

Additional Notes

  • The unit uses equipment such as Baxter IV pumps, Posey bed/chair alarms, Omnicell drug dispensing cabinets, and Zoll defibrillators.
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: Medhost
