Registered Nurse - Orthopedic Surgery

Location: Gallatin, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with orthopedic surgery specialty to provide quality care in a Level III Trauma Center with a 23-bed unit. The patient population includes geriatric, adult, and pediatric patients (13 years and older).


Unit Information

  • Unit: Orthopedic Surgery / Post Operative / Med/Surg
  • Number of Beds: 23
  • Patient Ratios: 4-6 patients per nurse
  • EHR System: Meditech
  • Shift: See shift details
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
  • Weekend Hours: As needed, approximately every third weekend
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Float Requirements: Must be willing to float as needed

Required Qualifications

  • License: Registered Nurse license valid in Tennessee
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIH certifications required prior to start
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in orthopedic surgery or related specialty
  • Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or higher
  • Must be highly motivated, demonstrate teamwork and customer service skills
  • Must be hardworking, willing to ask questions when in doubt, kind and compassionate

Common Diagnoses / Treatments

  • Postoperative joint care
  • Postoperative bariatric care
  • Postoperative gastrointestinal care
  • Trauma patients

Additional Information

  • Orientation is held weekly on Mondays
  • Must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as a travel nurse
  • Tennessee Abuse Registry check required prior to assignment start
  • Dress code: Any scrub color allowed; T-shirts must display hospital logo; acrylic nails are not permitted
