Registered Nurse - OR (Surgery)

Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room (OR) - Surgery specialty at a 47-bed acute care facility. The role involves working in Surgery with a focus on perioperative care including Pre-Op, OR, and PACU units.

Unit Information

Department: Surgery
Number of Openings: 1
Shift: See shift details
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend / as needed
Call Requirements: As needed; approximately 10-11 days per month (may increase to 15-16 days if staffing is limited)
Float Requirements: As needed, including Pre-Op
Beds: 3 OR, 3 PACU, 5 Preop
Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2
Patient Population: All ages
Electronic Health Records (EHR): CQI and Medhost

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Operating Room (OR) - Surgery specialty, including experience within the last year
Pre-op float experience (as needed)
Required Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Healthcare Worker Certification (HWC)
Must be fingerprinted and undergo background check as per New Mexico state requirements (travelers may start on a 14-day waiver with supervision while results are pending)

Additional Information

Orientation is held weekly on Mondays
Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
Dress Code: Hospital-provided scrubs; casual wear and open-toed shoes are not allowed
Travel experience is a plus but not required

This is a travel assignment requiring flexibility with call and weekend hours
Professional demeanor and adherence to facility policies are expected
Must have all required certifications at time of submission; certifications are not provided onsite
