Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Ottumwa, Iowa
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
Call Requirements: None


Unit Profile

  • Specialty: Obstetrics/Gynecology (Labor & Delivery)
  • Number of Openings: 1
  • Float Requirements: Must float within hospital to other units as needed
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Active labor: 1:1
    • Couplet care: 3:1
  • Equipment: Intermediate fetal monitoring, Philips Tracevue
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR): Meditech
  • Patient Population: Obstetrics patients (labor & delivery)

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • STABLE certification

Required Licensure

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Iowa

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery (Obstetrics/Gynecology) RN experience within the last year
  • Labor & Delivery travel experience preferred
  • Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications

Onboarding Requirements

  • Must have Iowa SING background check clearance (criminal and child abuse portions required) – no exceptions
  • All background checks (county and state) must be fully cleared prior to start; no instant or statewide searches accepted
  • Mandatory reporter certification for child and adult required
  • Drug test must be a 10-panel screen including opiates
  • Immunization titers (MMR, Hep B, Varicella, TB) must be within the last 12 months
  • Start days allowed: Monday or Tuesday

  • Float to other hospital units as needed
  • Patient care involves high-acuity obstetrics with 1:1 active labor ratios
  • Scrub color and dress code details not specified
