Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location: Ottumwa, Iowa
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
Call Requirements: None
Unit Profile
- Specialty: Obstetrics/Gynecology (Labor & Delivery)
- Number of Openings: 1
- Float Requirements: Must float within hospital to other units as needed
- Patient Ratios:
- Active labor: 1:1
- Couplet care: 3:1
- Equipment: Intermediate fetal monitoring, Philips Tracevue
- Electronic Health Record (EHR): Meditech
- Patient Population: Obstetrics patients (labor & delivery)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- STABLE certification
Required Licensure
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Iowa
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery (Obstetrics/Gynecology) RN experience within the last year
- Labor & Delivery travel experience preferred
- Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications
Onboarding Requirements
- Must have Iowa SING background check clearance (criminal and child abuse portions required) – no exceptions
- All background checks (county and state) must be fully cleared prior to start; no instant or statewide searches accepted
- Mandatory reporter certification for child and adult required
- Drug test must be a 10-panel screen including opiates
- Immunization titers (MMR, Hep B, Varicella, TB) must be within the last 12 months
- Start days allowed: Monday or Tuesday
Additional Information
- Float to other hospital units as needed
- Patient care involves high-acuity obstetrics with 1:1 active labor ratios
- Scrub color and dress code details not specified
- No call responsibilities
