Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location: Ottumwa, Iowa
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
Call Requirements: None
Unit Information
- Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Patient Ratios:
- Active labor: 1:1
- Couplet Care: 3:1
- Equipment: Intermediate fetal monitoring, Philips Tracevue
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: Meditech
- Float Requirements: Must float within hospital to other units as needed
- Patient Population: Laboring mothers and newborns
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- STABLE certification
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery specialty (higher value taken from available data)
- Background checks: Must have Iowa SING background check cleared (including criminal and child abuse portions) prior to start; all other background checks must be fully cleared (no instant or statewide searches accepted)
- Mandatory reporter certification for child and adult required
- Drug test: 10-panel screening including opiates
- Immunization titers within last 12 months for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and TB
Additional Information
- Prior travel experience is considered (will consider 1 year experience with travel experience) but not explicitly required
- Start days allowed: Monday or Tuesday
- Float to other units within the hospital as needed
