Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The RN assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The Med/Surg RN develops specialized skills in the area of cardiac care including telemetry monitoring. The RN is accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, promoting health and healing.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient/family needs through active listening and analysis of data/information.
• Create individualized plans of care based on patient needs and family goals.
• Advocate for and protect the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and initiate improvements.
• Provide education to patients and families to support care and healing at home.
• Encourage collaboration and mutual respect among team members.
• Comply with infection prevention strategies and maintain nursing competencies.
• Build a therapeutic relationship with patients and families to enhance care delivery.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN Licensure Required
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS
• One (1) Year Experience serving in Med/Surg Environment as a Registered Nurse

Schedule

This position entails part-time shifts consisting of 2x12 hour rotations, including day, night, weekends, and holidays.
