Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Critical Care Float Pool will provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients across various intensive care units. This role requires strong ICU skills and the ability to manage multiple patients effectively while adhering to patient ratios. The nurse will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to support patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in various ICUs.
  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, including interpretation of arterial blood gases and management of ventilators.
  • Administer medications, including IV paralytics and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips.
  • Assist with invasive procedures and care associated with central lines, PICC lines, and arterial lines.
  • Work within a float pool, adapting to care in different critical care units and responding to diverse patient needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Must have a valid PA or Compact license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience in a large teaching facility, not LTACH or critical access hospital.
  • Experience within a Trauma Level I facility is required.
  • ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required; additional certifications such as IV therapy are preferred.
  • Previous charge experience is preferred.
