Schedule
Shift: AM, 11.5 hours. Shift start time at 1100 hours with occasional 2330 hour shifts. Some weekend days required, no holidays.
Job Description
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse will be responsible for providing care in a dynamic environment that involves floating between different PACU locations, including Interventional Radiology and the Ambulatory Surgery Unit. The nurse will work in collaboration with a team to ensure optimal patient care following anesthesia procedures.
Responsibilities
- Care for patients in the PACU, monitoring their recovery from anesthesia.
- Work alongside surgical teams and ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Assess patient conditions and provide interventions as needed.
- Manage patient flow within the PACU, adhering to ASPAN standards.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU or PACU experience required.
- Current New York State Nursing License.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
- Nurse to patient ratio determined based on patient acuity.
- Experience with a PACU setting handling 18 beds and approximately 23-39 cases a day is preferred.
