Job Description
The vascular technologist is a diagnostic ultrasound professional responsible for performing diagnostic vascular ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. This role requires adherence to established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, ensuring compliance under the guidance of the supervisor or technical director.
Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic vascular examinations as ordered by a physician.
- Operates laboratory equipment safely and appropriately.
- Uses medical record and imaging systems correctly.
- Transports and positions patients safely.
- Assists physicians with special procedures involving the vascular lab.
- Maintains ethical relationships within the hospital and with patients.
- Ensures compliance with IAC standards and maintains educational requirements for vascular certification.
- Assists in the precepting of students and new employees.
- Maintains a safe working environment and reports unsafe conditions.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Eligible candidates should be graduates from an accredited institution and registered through ARDMS with RVT certification (preferred) or through CCI with RVS certification. A minimum of 15 hours of CME every three years is required. Two years of experience under supervision of a qualified vascular physician or vascular laboratory is preferred.
