Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orienting staff. A commitment to patient and employee safety is paramount, with a focus on best practices for safe patient handling, infectious disease management, and maintaining a secure work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission to formulate an individualized plan of care.
- Identify teaching needs and goals in collaboration with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information and status updates for team conferences.
- Ensure accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and responses in the medical record.
- Engage in patient rehabilitation and foster a positive educational approach with patients and families.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission.
- Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care amongst providers.
- Provide direction and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel, delegating appropriately.
- Maintain personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
- Participate in creating a positive work environment and engage in team-building activities.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification Required prior to first shift.
- ACLS Required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum two (2) years bedside clinical experience required.
- Experience in PCU/Critical Care or Step-Down units preferred.
