Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is implemented effectively. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while embracing the company’s core values and committed to patient and employee safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission and create individualized care plans.
• Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with patients and families to set goals related to their diagnosis.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the medical records.
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and provide direct patient care based on the nursing process.
• Initiate discharge planning on admission and begin patient teaching in anticipation of discharge.
• Communicate pertinent patient information regarding changes in status to ensure continuity of care.
• Provide direction and supervision of ancillary nursing personnel, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
• Ensure personal and environmental safety following hospital and nursing policies.
• Contribute positively to the unit's functioning through calm direction and reassurance.
• Communicate service needs related to supplies and equipment with management and senior nursing staff.
• Assume charge responsibilities as requested after the orientation period.
• Engage in professional growth and continuing education opportunities.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS certification required prior to first shift (for specific units only).
• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
• Experience in PCU/Critical Care or Step-Down nursing preferred.
