Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring adherence to the nursing care plan. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, focusing on patient and employee safety in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
• Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with the healthcare team for goal setting.
• Provide timely patient updates during team conferences and document all assessments and interventions accurately.
• Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and prioritize education for patients and their families.
• Initiate discharge planning from the day of admission and provide patient education in anticipation of discharge.
• Ensure effective communication regarding patients' status changes among healthcare providers to support continuity of care.
• Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.
• Contribute positively to unit functioning and participate in team-building initiatives.
• Monitor supplies and manage costs while promoting quality patient outcomes.
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation.
• Engage in professional development through continuing education and self-study.
• Perform additional duties as requested.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
• ACLS Certification required prior to the first shift (CIRH ONLY).
• Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
