Job Description

The Level 1 RN - Psychiatry is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to psychiatric patients by conducting intake assessments, planning and implementing nursing care, and consulting with multidisciplinary teams to create effective treatment plans. The RN will administer medications, monitor patient responses, and maintain accurate medical records while ensuring patient confidentiality and a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
• Plan and provide nursing care for psychiatric patients.
• Make nursing diagnoses regarding patients' medical and emotional status and recommend treatment options.
• Consult with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff to design treatment plans.
• Administer psychotropic medications and observe reactions.
• Assist clients in understanding emotional disturbances and the need for treatment.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
• Document patient information on medical charts and follow physician orders.
• Perform administrative assignments related to patient care and documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must hold a valid RN License in New York.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric nursing.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association only).
• CPI Certification required.
