Description
Job Description
The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and transporting patients into and out of the facility as medically prescribed. The role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining the purpose and procedures of treatments to patients, and educating them upon discharge. Responsibilities include conducting physician-prescribed treatments, operating a variety of respiratory equipment, performing chest physiotherapy, and managing patient suctioning and monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
- Explain treatments, procedures, and equipment to patients.
- Conduct routine inhalation therapy and administer prescribed medications.
- Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning as required.
- Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography techniques.
- Review chest x-rays and conduct pulmonary function studies.
- Assist with respiratory care procedures such as bronchoscopy and tracheostomy care.
- Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency.
- Maintain accurate respiratory therapy records and communicate with healthcare teams.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Experience with ventilatory and aerosol devices.
- Knowledge of laboratory testing policies and procedures.
Schedule
This position operates on a Night shift schedule, specifically a 3x12 hour format.
