Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees. Embraces the Select Medical Way and Core Values: delivering superior quality and treating others as they would like to be treated, while focusing on results and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis of an individualized care plan.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to the diagnosis of each patient, in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide patient information for Initial Team Conference and weekly Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
- Responsible for accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses in accordance with policy.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and prioritize patient education based on health care needs.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Ensure continuity of care by communicating changes in patient status effectively.
- Provide direction and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel, utilizing problem-solving skills and delegating appropriately.
- Maintain personal and environmental safety according to hospital and nursing policies.
- Positively contribute to unit functioning and participate in team-building activities.
- Communicate with management regarding service needs and provide cost-effective care.
- Assume charge responsibility as requested following orientation.
- Pursue professional development through continued education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS required prior to first shift (CIRH only).
- Minimum two years bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
