Job Description

The Observation unit cares for adult patients needing additional observation to determine if the patient's condition is serious enough for admission to the hospital or if the patient can be treated and released home safely. This is a very fast-paced environment that turns over 20 to 27 patients per day, with an average length of stay of 27 hours. The unit has 24/7 provider coverage and cares for a diverse adult population of both emergency observation and admitted boarding patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in the observation unit.
• Monitor patients to determine the necessity of admission to the hospital.
• Assess and evaluate patient conditions regularly.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• RN License (NY License ONLY)
• Two years of Med/Surg experience
• Telemetry certification required
• BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
• NIHSS certification preferred
