Minimum 2x12-hour shifts per week for the first month. Orientation will be Monday and Tuesday.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies the urgent or emergent care priority, and collaboratively provides direct care, applies appropriate interventions, and evaluates patient progress.

Responsibilities

• Connect with patients and families during triage; establish rapport and address comfort needs.
• Conduct primary assessments of critical needs and document any major deviations from normal.
• Encourage mutual trust and cooperation among team members to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.
• Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments; assess their learning styles.
• Maintain updated patient communication boards throughout the ED stay.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum 2 years of acute hospital experience as an RN.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an emergency department as an RN.
• Current RNBLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (must be AHA or RQI).
• New York State RN Licensure.
