Schedule

Full Time: 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) including every other weekend and holidays, plus 2 on-call shifts every 4 weeks.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The RN on 3 North develops specialized skills in caring for patients admitted for medical conditions and provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations.

Responsibilities

• Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
• Assesses patient/family needs through active listening and analysis of data obtained through observation and communication.
• Develops individualized care plans in collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team members.
• Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
• Provides patient/family education to assist with care and healing after hospitalization.
• Documents education provided and the patient/family response to the education.
• Engages in self-evaluation and continuous professional development.
• Develops meaningful relationships with patients and families to create a Healing Environment.
• Administers medications and other interventions with competence and adherence to safety protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN Licensure Required
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS
• One year of experience serving in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse is required.
