Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaborates in delivering direct care, applying appropriate interventions, and evaluating patient progress.

Responsibilities

• Conduct primary assessments and document major deviations from norms.
• Establish rapport with patients and families and address comfort needs.
• Utilize various invasive and non-invasive procedures appropriate to emergency situations.
• Encourage mutual trust and respect among team members for optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families on care continuity and follow-up needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• One-year acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurse
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only) required
• 2 years of experience in the ED preferred
