Job Description
The Interventional Radiology Technician demonstrates competence in selecting exposure factors, positioning, and consistently producing radiologic images of diagnostic quality. This role requires working cooperatively with all members of the department to resolve problems expediently while displaying flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability in all interactions with customers. The technician also demonstrates an awareness of and sensitivity to patient rights in all interfaces with patients.
Responsibilities
- Instruct and prepare patients for examinations and assist the Radiologist during procedures.
- Demonstrate competence and proficiency in operating all equipment and report malfunctions to management.
- Complete all assigned procedures in a timely manner, utilizing time between procedures to assist others and manage room turnover.
- Maintain medication security by ensuring access is limited to authorized personnel only.
- Demonstrate competency in providing health care services to all age groups.
- Exhibit effective interpersonal relationships with all age groups.
- Utilize the Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS efficiently.
- Participate in hospital performance improvement activities as warranted.
- Maintain confidentiality using personal access credentials and all patient care modules.
- Answer telephone inquiries of a technical nature while maintaining good phone etiquette.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
- Two (2) years of experience in the field
- NYS License (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- VIR Certification preferred
