Job Description
The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, explaining procedures, and responding to patient inquiries. The role involves performing diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient care/technical duties and procedures accurately and timely.
- Review requests and evaluate orders for appropriate exams and diagnoses.
- Ensure two patient identifiers: Name and Date of Birth are checked.
- Explain procedures clearly to patients.
- Prepare and position patients for examinations using proper techniques.
- Demonstrate the ability to operate CR, Fluoro, and DR equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist Radiologists and/or Fluoro Tech during fluoroscopic and special procedure examinations.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the work area.
- Document patient symptoms and history in PACS accurately.
- Promote and demonstrate appropriate radiation safety practices.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a specialized training program in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- One year of experience performing radiological procedures in a hospital, clinic, or physician's office preferred.
- Registered with the ARRT in Radiology.
- Meets American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS); renews BLS every two years.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
