Job Description
The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and managing patient transport in accordance with medical prescriptions. They evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans, while also educating patients on treatment procedures and equipment during discharge.
Responsibilities
- Conduct physician-prescribed routine treatments using various ventilatory, oxygen, and aerosol devices.
- Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using various methods.
- Utilize monitoring techniques including oximetry and capnography.
- Review patient's chest x-rays for further evaluation.
- Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist in respiratory-related procedures.
- Care for tracheostomy patients and perform endotracheal tube management.
- Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency.
- Record and report treatment information and patient responses accurately.
- Communicate effectively with medical staff regarding therapy efficiency.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Candidates must possess a valid Respiratory Therapy license and relevant certifications as per state and federal regulations. Strong experience in critical care and familiarity with various respiratory equipment is preferred.
