Job Description

This position floats between the HICU, BHU, and Burk 2 (LTC vent unit), providing care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent interventions. Patients in these units are stable but critically ill and can change in condition rapidly. The role demands strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions, and develop care plans to enhance outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients on ventilator support with chronic and complex respiratory problems.
• Monitor patients requiring ICU step down, telemetry, and medical surgical level of care.
• Engage patients in group activities and one-on-one exercises.
• Manage medication administration, blood transfusions, and non-titratable drip medications.
• Utilize specialty equipment and devices such as G-tubes, PICC lines, and chest tubes.
• Implement patient care plans and modify as necessary based on patient assessments.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
• Previous charge experience is preferred.
• Experience with telemetry and mechanical ventilation is essential.
• Valid Maryland or Compact nursing license required at time of submission.
