Job Description

The PCU Stepdown Unit is designed to provide care for patients requiring a higher level of monitoring and treatment. This unit includes 11 to 12 beds, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. Common patient diagnoses include post-operative vascular care, hemodynamically stable cardiac dysrhythmias, CVA, sepsis, renal patients, stable acute myocardial infarctions, unstable angina, and post-cardiac catheterization care.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a stepdown unit.
• Monitor patient vitals and respond to any changes in condition.
• Titrate and manage critical drips including insulin, Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone, and low-dose Dopamine.
• Assist with general patient care alongside Nursing Assistants.
• Float to ICU and Med-Surg Telemetry as needed.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have travel nursing experience.
• 1-2 years of critical care experience required.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• ICU skill set required, including experience with Bipap, Cpap, mechanical ventilation, telemetry, and critical drips.
• Preferred: Experience with arterial lines, post fem-pop, and post-endarterectomy care.
