Job Description
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice, guiding patient/family teaching and the activities of nursing personnel while maintaining professional standards in the Telemetry unit. The RN is accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department and communicates effectively with physicians regarding changes in patient conditions and diagnostic findings. The role requires rapid response to changes in patient status and comprehensive knowledge of EMTALA regulations related to the reporting of abuse.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe and effective patient care using the nursing process.
- Direct and guide patient/family education and nursing staff activities.
- Maintain standards of professional nursing care in the Emergency Department.
- Collaborate with physicians on patient assessment and care plans.
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in clinical conditions.
- Ensure compliance with EMTALA regulations and report as necessary.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Current BLS certification upon hire and maintain throughout employment.
- Current ACLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
- Current PALS certification and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
- Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation certification within 30 days of hire.
- Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital; Emergency Room experience preferred.
- Certification as an Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
