Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Level 1 Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Psychiatry to join our team. This position involves conducting patient assessments, planning and providing nursing care, and collaborating with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff to create effective treatment plans. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients while maintaining accurate medical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
• Plan and provide comprehensive nursing care for patients.
• Make nursing diagnoses regarding the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options.
• Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff to design appropriate treatment plans.
• Administer psychotropic drugs and monitor patients' reactions.
• Arrange further medical attention as necessary.
• Assist clients in understanding the nature of emotional disturbances and the need for treatment.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for both staff and patients.
• Document all patient information on medical charts and adhere to prescribed physician orders.
• Perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, and typing progress notes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Registered Nurse (RN) License: NY License required.
• Two (2) years of nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric settings.
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association only.
• CPI Blue Card with hands-on training is preferred.

Schedule

This position features rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required by unit needs.
