Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist, under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services and the Technical Supervisor, provides and administers all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment as stated in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.

Responsibilities

• Providing respiratory therapy under medical direction, focusing on the education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system.
• Assisting in intubation and managing ventilator set-up and operations.
• Gathering essential information to accurately assess patient needs, including disease education and consultations with other healthcare professionals.
• Developing rapport with patients and caregivers to foster a supportive environment for goal achievement.
• Documenting and providing education to patients and caregivers based on identified needs in a clear manner.
• Adhering to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
• Performing various duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Schedule

This position entails working 3 x 12-hour shifts per week from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, managing 10-12 ventilators per Respiratory Therapist. Weekend and holiday work may be required as needed, with no on-call requirements.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy.
• Current and valid New Jersey Respiratory Care license.
• Current and valid New Jersey Registered Respiratory Therapist certificate.
• BLS - from the American Heart Association.
• ACLS and PALS certifications.
