12-hour night shifts, with weekends required as scheduled. Staff must be on the unit ready to start by 6:45 PM.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care Unit will provide care to a patient population with moderate acuity. The unit typically operates with a goal nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, though may at times increase to 1:5 or 1:6. The RN will manage patients recovering from diagnoses including but not limited to chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-procedure care.
Responsibilities
- Complete patient assessments and develop care plans.
- Monitor and interpret vital signs and lab results; manage IV drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Heparin.
- Coordinate with respiratory therapists and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans and health maintenance.
- Utilize electronic medical records for documentation.
- Participate in unit meetings and collaborate with team members.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current RN license in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips.
- Experience in an intermediate care or telemetry setting is preferred.
