12-hour day/night rotating shifts, weekends as scheduled. Shifts run from 7 AM to 7 PM; staff must be on the unit by 6:45 AM/PM.
Job Description
We are seeking a Registered Nurse for our Intermediate Care Unit. The unit consists of 30 beds, including 14 private and 16 semi-private rooms, with an average nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6. Nurses will collaborate with hospitalists and intensivists who are in-house 24/7. The role involves managing various patient conditions, including chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias, and providing care for patients on medication drips.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and titrate IV drips, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin.
- Monitor telemetry strips; RN's must be able to read and interpret their own strips.
- Provide care and conduct assessments for patients with intermediate care needs.
- Manage patient care alongside nurse aides and clinical assistants.
- Participate in patient orientation and training.
- Float to other units as needed, including Telemetry and MedSurg with ratios up to 1:6.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current RN license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
