Job Description

The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, performing ultrasound procedures, and ensuring patient comfort and satisfaction. The sonographer will explain procedures in simple terms, monitor patients throughout the process, and maintain accurate records and logs of exams performed. This role requires a focus on high-quality adult echocardiography studies in a premier cardiac center.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and address pre-testing anxiety.
• Perform ultrasound procedures and monitor patients during the process.
• Review prior reports, images, and patient charts thoroughly.
• Ensure appropriate images are obtained, and studies are complete.
• Maintain control of inventory and purchase supplies for the assigned area.
• Document findings and notify readers of critical results.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Experience performing high-quality adult echo studies according to ASE & IAC guidelines.
• Minimum of 200 inpatient cases in echocardiography.
• Proficiency in valvular assessment with strong spectral Doppler and Pedoff skills.
• Experience with contrast echocardiography and agitated saline studies.
• Registered Cardiac Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS or CCI).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
