Job Description

The Level II Registered Nurse, under the direction of the Nurse Manager, is accountable for the provision of competent care based on established standards through clinical practice, service excellence, professional development, and research. This role includes responsibilities such as charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member.

The position focuses on caring for a variety of surgical patients, including thoracic, foregut, plastics, and burn patients. The unit also specializes in the management and care for pulmonary hypertension patients, with dedicated resources for post-operative care and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Deliver competent and compassionate care to surgical patients.
• Monitor and manage patients in stepdown beds requiring frequent assessment.
• Utilize a variety of medical equipment, tubes, lines, and drains effectively.
• Participate in charge nurse responsibilities as needed.
• Provide guidance and support to nursing staff as a preceptor.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Telemetry experience is required.
• Current RN License in New York required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• A minimum of two years of nursing experience is required.

Schedule

This position operates on a rotating shifts schedule, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
