Full-time day/night variable shifts (3x12s), scheduled as needed including every other weekend and holiday, plus 2 on-call shifts per 4 weeks.
Job Description
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaboratively provides direct care while applying appropriate interventions and evaluating patient progress. The ED RN evidences skill in the use of various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions appropriate to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Connects with patients and families during triage, identifying care priorities per Triage Standards.
- Conducts primary and secondary assessments, documenting deviations from norms and identifying necessary interventions.
- Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Prepares patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments, making appropriate referrals for post-emergency care.
- Maintains awareness of patient's condition throughout the ER visit and communicates effectively with patients and families.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (Must be AHA or RQI certified).
- Two years of acute hospital experience as a Registered Nurse.
- One year of Emergency Department experience as a Registered Nurse.
