Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality patient care by ensuring the nursing care plan is executed effectively. The RN will supervise Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while embracing the core values of the organization which prioritize patient and employee safety.
Responsibilities
- Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within the first 8 hours of admission to develop an individualized care plan.
- Identify patient teaching needs through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely updates on patient information and status during team conferences.
- Utilize the nursing process to deliver direct patient care, focusing on education and support for patients and families.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission.
- Communicate effectively regarding changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
- Supervise ancillary nursing personnel and promote teamwork and positive communication within the unit.
- Contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in clinical discussions and seek guidance from senior nursing staff when necessary.
- Identify professional development opportunities and pursue continuing education for growth.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
- ACLS Certification required prior to the first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience required.
- PCU/Critical Care experience is highly desired.
