Registered Nurse - Shock Trauma PACU

This is a 12-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shifts: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30), with weekends, holidays, and on-call duty required.

Job Description

The Shock Trauma PACU is a specialized 12-bay unit that provides peri-anesthesia care focusing on traumatic injury management. The team operates 24/7 to ensure vigilant pre and post-operative care for both outpatients and inpatients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgeries across various surgical and procedural services.

Responsibilities

Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients undergoing surgery, including those with traumatic injuries.
Administer blood products and fluids according to established protocols.
Manage airway and ventilated patients competently.
Titrate vasopressors and respond to patient fluctuations appropriately.
Support procedural space and manage patient overflow from the Trauma Resuscitation Unit.
Perform thorough assessments, medication reconciliations, and obtain operative consent.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Active Maryland state license (or compact license).
BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
NIHSS certification is preferred.
Previous charge experience is preferred.
Minimum of 1-year experience in a Phase I PACU or trauma setting.
